Ionics EMS Inc. has been awarded by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines a patent for its invention of an Automatic Voltage Regulator for Distribution Transformers to regulate AC voltage fluctuations on the secondary side both above and below the desired output voltage.
Â
This is hailed as a significant invention as there has been a long-standing demand in the technical and engineering community for an effective voltage regulation that can provide better power quality to the consumers and distribution companies.Â
Â
It seeks to address issues such as over voltage, under voltage, voltage swell, voltage sag, noise, and harmonics. With the increasing set-up of solar farms and solar-powered homes that transmit electricity to the power grid thus adding further to the voltage fluctuations, this product invention is touted as a game-changing solution.Â
Â
There are a few other automatic voltage regulators in the market but none that matches the technical edge and the simple and inexpensive implementation of the Ionics-developed solution which offers an attractive and cost-effective opportunity for mass-production and deployment not only in the Philippines, but also in Asia and beyond.
